Understanding Vehicle to Load (V2L) Technology 

Vehicle-to-Load, commonly referred to as V2L, is one of the most practical features available in modern electric and hybrid vehicles, including models across the GWM range. It allows your vehicle to supply power to external devices, from small appliances to larger equipment, using the car’s battery. In simple terms, it turns your vehicle into a portable power source.

How Does V2L Work?

V2L allows your vehicle to supply power through built-in outlets or a charging port adaptor, depending on the make and model. On GWM vehicles, this is accessed via an external charging port adaptor, delivering power in the same way as a standard household socket once connected.

Depending on the car, this can support a range of devices such as power tools, camping equipment, small cooking appliances, and laptops or mobile devices. Whilst output levels vary by vehicle, many systems can deliver up to 3.3kW, which can comfortably run multiple devices at once. Within GWM’s current V2L range, most models can deliver up to 6kW, offering additional flexibility for higher-demand equipment.

This gives you the ability to plug in and power everyday equipment straight from your vehicle, without needing anything extra. Whether you’re charging e-bikes at the trailhead, running tools on-site, or setting up a campsite, it provides a simple way to access power when you need it.

Which GWM Vehicles Offer V2L?

V2L is available across a number of models in GWM’s Plug-in Hybrid and EV range.

Within the current GWM range, models such as the Tank 300, Cannon Alpha, Ora and Tank 500 offer up to 6kW of output, while the H6GT delivers up to 3.3kW. This gives you the flexibility to choose a vehicle that suits how you plan to use it.
